Saturday 28th AUGUST 2010 - "THE GREAT INCHANGA TRAIN RACE"
Inchanga to Kloof - sponsored by NOSA

Passengers and supporters can travel on the race train from Kloof at 12h00 as the race starts from Inchanga Station at 14h00 and the runners will race the train back to Kloof Station

Event Format: Relay event comprising of 6 runners who compete against the steam train. The event includes both road running and off road terrain.

Cost: R 1000 per team of 6 runners/walkers (includes 6 complementary tickets to Beer Fest and a T Shirt)

Beneficiary: All proceeds will be distributed to designated charities or organizations by the Gillitts Lions Club.

Prizes: Prize giving will commence at 17h00 in the marquee at the Kloof Town Hall, and will be followed by a Beer Fest. The intention is for all participants to have fun, but prizes will be awarded in the categories:

    • First Team Home
    • Best Dressed Team
    • First School Team Home

The route is subject to change but is currently as follows:

Route: Start at Inchanga Railway Station at 14h00

First runner : Distance 6.5km

Out the station yard and left onto the main road towards Hammersdale.
Turn left onto the M59E and continue 3.5kms
Then turn left onto the road to Drumond.
Cross railway line and turn right onto the R103
To First Change over point outside the Thousand Hills Hotel (Comrades Halfway)

Second Runner: Distance 3.5kms

Proceed along the R103 to D435 Alverstone to second change over point
Third Runner: Distance 4kms
Proceed along R103 through Bothas Hill to 3rd change over point at Embo Craft (Next to Kearsney College)

Fourth Runner: Distance 4kms

Down R103 to bottom of Bothas Hill
Then left into Galloway Road crossing railway line
Proceed right with Galloway road then right into Westriding Road
Cross Inanda Road and turn right to 4th change over point
At Hillcrest Highschool Sports field.

Fifth Runner: Distance 6kms

Along Ridge Road and right into Springside Road and run parallel to Railway line until you turn right into Stonewall Road.
Under the bridge turn right onto the railway line servitude. (Behind Builders Express)
Proceed along the Servitude crossing Ashley Drive and continuing to Gillitts Railway Station to the 5

Sixth Runner:Distance 3.2kms

Proceed from Gillitts Station and turn left into Everton Road then right Into Igwababa Road and proceed to the Pedestrian bridge opposite Makaranga Lodge.
Cross pedestrian bridge over railway line then proceed left along Old Main Road to the finish at the field at Kloof Town Hall.
Total distance 27.5kms ( subject to change)
