Steam is Action (S.I.A.) is an international initiative
dedicated to the preservation of South African's very unique, characterful steam railway
heritage before the fires of South African steam go out for ever.
Travelling on a vintage steam train is the very essence of adventure and romance. Watching the world glide by as you enjoy a meal in a teak-panelled dining saloon; being lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of an ancient wooden coach; relaxing completely to the gentle rhythms of the steam age . . . this is the stuff that dreams are made of.
Sadly, this dream is struggling to a point of where steam traction and railway heritage in South Africa may no longer exist.
Help us to keep the dream alive by joining Steam in Action now! Your support can make a difference!

Reef Steamers Association , Sandstone Heritage Trust and Friends of the Rail have teamed together to present a national, coordinated front for Steam Preservation and Operation. Other active Steam and Railway groups are welcome to join. S.I.A. seek the advice and support of the international steam and business communities, seeking practical assistance, donations as well as financial sponsorship. The potential rewards are immense - re-establishing and enjoying a premier world destination for active steam, contributing towards the rescue and restoration of rare locomotives, including vintage diesels and electrics, and the reinstating of steam-age depot and line side infrastructure.
The restored locomotives and equipment will be made available to be enjoyed by those who assisted and supported the restoration,
but will ultimately be available to be experienced and enjoyed by the whole world - both by the casual visitor and steam enthusiasts alike.
