The axle boxes of the Class 3BR "Maureen" No. 1486 were removed for a bearing change on 16th September 2006
An 8 hour job for removal only...

18th October 2006 saw the loco being high pressure water cleaned - 5 hours later she was clean
|
|
On Tuesday 31st October the newly white metalled shells arrived back with Simon Anderson at Tweed Tools in Pinetown from Johannesburg (600Kms away),
all 1086Kgs of them, and R45,000.00 later !

On Tuesday November 21st Simon Anderson of Tweed Tools started machining the new bearings
|
|
On Saturday 9th December 2006 Simon had finished his awesome task of machining the white metal shells to fit the axles on the 3BR
