What happened at Pretoria Park, Pretoria on May 21st shocked the rail enthusiasts of South Africa as 12 coaches belonging to the luxury tour train opeartor, Rovos Rail, were destroyed in a fire.

An estimate of the damage was set at about R13M with coaches destroyed in the fire that will never be replaced.

The dining car for instance was built in 1908 and made almost entirely from wood, irreplacable.
